ROME, Ga.—The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team used a third-period rally to defeat Berry College, 55-44, Friday evening in Rome, Ga., remaining undefeated on the season.
The Panthers moved to 11-0 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Athletic Association; the Vikings fell to 7-6 overall and 1-1 in the SAA.
After a back-and-forth first period, BSC found itself trailing 13-9, and the teams traded leads several times throughout the second period as well, with Berry leading 21-19 at the half.
The Panthers steadily pulled ahead throughout the third period, out-scoring the Vikings 17-7 to lead 36-28 by the end of the quarter. BSC maintained its lead for the remainder of the game, going up by as much as 17 three different times before winning by 11.
Junior Jasmynn Batts led the Panthers with 13 points on 6-11 shooting as well as six rebounds, and senior Ashley Curry led with three assists. JuniorJameice Holmes also added 12 points on 4-8 shooting, including 3-5 from beyond the arc.
BSC is back in action this Sunday, taking on Oglethorpe at 1 p.m. ET in Atlanta, Ga.
