ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior Julia Brew scored a game- and career-high of 25 points for host Nazareth Saturday as the Golden Flyers returned to the hardwood after a 28-day layoff to defeat Oswego in women's basketball, 80-41, in a non-conference game.

Playing for the first time since Dec. 5, Nazareth broke a 22-year-old school record by hitting 15 three-point field goals to overwhelm the Lakers and to improve to 6-2 overall. Oswego fell to 2-7. The Golden Flyers are home again Sunday for another non-conference game against Buffalo State at 2 p.m.

Brew broke a 20-year-old school by hitting eight three-point baskets. She also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. Senior Veronica Peck added five three-point baskets and finished with a season-high 15 points and senior Lindsey Kelly went 7-for-8 from the field and had 15 points and six rebounds.

Nazareth led 20-2 in the first seven minutes, then settled for a 20-7 lead at the end of one quarter. The lead continued to swell in the second quarter as Nazareth outscored Oswego 32-10 and led 52-17 at the break. The Golden Flyers shot a blistering 61.3 percent from the field (19-for-31) in the first half, including 12-for-21 (57.1 percent) from three-point range. Brew made six of her three-pointers in the first half and Peck made four more. Kelly went 5-for-5 from the field in the first half for 11 points to go with six rebounds. Oswego, meanwhile, made just five first-half field goals in 31 attempts and was outrebounded 27-13.

Nazareth scored just four points in the third quarter, but had built enough of a cushion to maintain a significant lead. The Golden Flyers scored 24 more points in the fourth quarter. Brew's seventh three-pointer came with 5:42 left in the fourth quarter and boosted Nazareth's lead to 71-32. Her record-breaking basket came with just 35 seconds left and bounced off the front and back of the rim before falling through the hoop.

The 15 three-pointers were one better than Nazareth sank against Staten Island in a 113-43 win on Dec. 4, 1993. Brew's eight three-pointers broke the record of seven that has been achieved three times, most recently by Joelle Woolston in a game against Keuka on Jan. 18, 1996. Shannon Dwyer reached that milestone twice in 1988 and again in 1989.

Senior Sam Sorge contributed 10 points for the Golden Flyers to go with six rebounds and senior Kelly Broderick also sank a pair of three-point baskets to finish with six points. Zana Dillard scored seven points for Oswego and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
