WESTERVILLE, Ohio (Dec. 29, 2015) –
 After finishing with just eight three-point field goals in last night's loss, the North Central College women's basketball team regained its composure from beyond the arch, converting 18 three-point attempts in a 100-73 win over St. Mary's College to close out play at the Smokey Ballenger Classic hosted by Otterbein University.
 
North Central (6-5) finished the contest shooting 18-of-65 from beyond the arch, while holding the Belles (1-12) to just two three-point attempts while holding their opponent to zero three-point field goals for the first time this season.
 
The two teams traded leads over the first five minutes of the opening quarter before a Mayson Whipplethree-pointer gave the Cardinals a 9-7 lead at the 5:15 mark.  North Central proceeded to go on a 10-2 run to quickly open up a double-digit lead, highlighted by long balls from Jamie Cuny and Lauren Hernandez, while Kelly Wallner added three points over the Cardinal run.
 
After closing out the first quarter with a 25-15 lead, North Central doubled its lead midway through the second as a Corrine Rowe three-pointer opened up the Cardinal advantage 49-29.
 
The Cardinals led by 20 or more points nearly the entire second half, opening up the largest lead of the contest, a 32-point advantage early in the fourth quarter.
 
Therese Pettersson led the Cardinals in scoring for the second consecutive contest, finishing with 16 points, including 7-of-8 shooting from the free throw line to go along with a career-high five blocks.  Cuny and Whipple also finished in double-figures with 11 points apiece, while Wallner chipped in a career-high nine points off the bench.  Erica Buck led the team with a career-high 11 rebounds, whilePaula Zerante turned in a career-high eight assists to lead all players.
