No. 6 Hope Women's Basketball Marches Past Lake Forest In Post Exam Jam

The Hope College women's basketball team heads into Christmas break feeling plenty jolly.

The nationally ranked Flying Dutch are 9-0 on the season after a 95-57 win against Lake Forest, Illinois on Saturday in the Post Exam Jam at DeVos Fieldhouse.

Most Valuable Player and senior forward Maura McAfee of Midland, Michigan (Midland HS) led Hope with a game-high 22 points and 14 rebounds. It was her fourth double-double of the season.

Sophomore forward Jacquelyn Schwark of Fraser, Michigan (Lutheran HS) added a career-high 20 points off the bench.

Schwark joined McAfee and freshman guard Victoria Swift of LaGrange, Illinois (Lyons Township HS) on the all-tournament team.

Swift netted 11 points, all in the first half as Hope raced to a 52-31 halftime lead.

McAfee moved into sole possession of ninth place among Flying Dutch scoring leaders after reaching 1,093 points in 99 games. She passed Nicki Mannes (1,089 points in 99 games from 1991-95).

McAfee trails eighth-place Amy Baltmanis by eight points. Baltmanis scored 1,101 points in 116 games from 1999-2003.

Hope is now 8-0 all-time in the Post Exam Jam. 

The Flying Dutch are ranked fourth in the WBCA Division III poll and sixth in the D3Hoops.com rankings.

Hope returns to action on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 29-30 at the RDV Sportsplex Classic in Orlando, Florida.
