GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy shrugged off a slow first quarter to rally for their fourth-straight win in a 69-48 victory over Juniata at the Griffin Complex Wednesday night.

Junior Charlotte Kucowski posted her second double-double in as many games and fifth on the year as the junior totaled 17 points and 12 rebounds, along with a career-high six block, all of which were game highs.

The Griffins (7-1) shot just 2-of-15 in the first 10 minutes and could not take advantage of 12 Juniata turnovers, where they trailed only by four (15-11). Gwynedd would find their stroke in the second, going 8-for-15 and connecting on 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Kucowski would have three of her six blocks in the period while junior Nicole Dombrowski and sophomore Julianna Hoisington each netted six points. Back-to-back-to-back trey's from Hoisington and Kucowski opened up a 9-0 run and gave GMercyU its first, and last, lead of the game.

Gwynedd would lead 30-23 at the half.

A 15-0 run in the third, capped with a three ball from sophomore Larissa Leyes helped open up a 50-31 lead. The Griffins were hot from downtown, connecting on six three's in the period. Leyes would strike again with a trey to give Gwynedd their largest lead of the stanza (54-33).

The Eagles (2-5) put together a run of their own to open the fourth as a three-ball from Kelly Leamer pulled Juniata within 56-42 with 8:02 left to go. But the Griffins were just too strong, scoring the next nine points over a 2:25 span to reclaim a 20-point lead and eventually the win.

Natalie Hager led Juniata with nine points and nine rebounds. Leamer finished with 11 off the bench. After hitting three three-pointers in the first quarter, the Eagles were just 2-for-20 over the final three periods.

Hoisington totaled 14 points and grabbed five rebounds while Dombrowski registered nine points, six boards, three assists, and three steals. Senior Olivia Bradford chipped in 11 points along with three assists. In all, the Griffins drained 11 three-pointers (the third time this season) and would outrebound the Eagles, 47-41.

With the win, head coach Keith Mondillo notches career win #399, with his all-time mark improving to 399-161 in his 21st season at the helm.

The Griffins will look to stretch their unbeaten streak and notch a coaching milestone on Monday, when they travel to Stockton in a non-conference clash starting at 7 p.m.
