LA PLUME, Pa. – Senior Kelecia Harris posted her second double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds as No. 25 Albright defeated Keystone 78-41 in a non-conference contest from the Gambal Athletic Center Wednesday evening.
The Lions remained undefeated on the season and improved to 8-0 on the season. Albright's 8-0 start to the season is the best mark in school history.
With the victory, the Lions stayed undefeated on the road with a 7-0 record.
Harris was 8-for-11 from the field and 2-for-3 from the line to finish with 18 points and she also added two blocks and an assist on the night.
Two other Albright players hit double figures as Nina Mazzarelli scored 17 points and Jane Joyce had 10 points. Mazzarelli posted her fifth double-figure scoring game of the season and also added four assists, while Joyce added seven rebounds and two assists to her 10 points.
Albright limited Keystone to just 21.8 percent shooting from the floor, while the Lions shot 47.7 percent. Albright held a 52-34 rebounding advantage and outscored the Giants 42-14 in the paint.
Keystone, which dropped to 4-4 on the season with the loss, was led by Destinee Hall who had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Keystone scored the first basket of the game to take its only lead of the contest, but Albright quickly took control of the contest.
Albright took a 15-4 lead in the first quarter by virtue of a 9-0 run, which featured five points from Mazzarelli, with 2:12 to play in the opening quarter.
The Giants cut the lead to 15-9 on a layup by Daynara Elysee, but Amara-Niani Jackson converted a layup giving the Lions a 17-9 lead after one period.
Albright opened the second quarter on a 14-0 run to take a 31-9 lead with 4:25 to play before halftime. Harris scored six of her 18 points during the run, which blew the game open.
Keystone managed to trim the Albright lead to 31-17 with 2:01 to play, but the Lions closed the quarter on a 6-2 run to take a 37-19 lead into the intermission.
Albright upped the lead to 60-25 at the end of the third quarter as the Lions outscored the Giants 23-6.
The Lions held as much as a 39-point lead on two occasions in the fourth quarter.
The Lions return to the court this Saturday (Dec. 12) when it faces Moravian in a non-conference road game beginning at 2 p.m.
