Amely Del Rosario scored a season high 31 points to lead Lehman (5-3:3-0) to a 76-48 victory over York (2-7:1-2) in a CUNYAC women's basketball contest. The Lightning also got strong performances from Yarmese Jones and Amani Lightbourne who each registered a double-double. Jones tallied 12 points while grabbing 10 rebounds while Lightbourne netted 17 while grabbing 10 rebounds. Jennifer Navaro added 14 points for Lehman.
With the game tied at 10, a Del Rosario layup followed by a traditional three-point-play by Lightbourne gave the Lightning a seven point lead but the Cardinals were able to score a bucket as the horn sounded to cut the lead to 15-12.
Nursing a two point lead in the closing minutes of the second quarter the Lightning scored the period's final six points to take a 31-23 into the locker room. All six points were scored by Del Rosario.
Midway through the third still nursing a seven point advantage the Lightning went on an 8-1 spurt to push their advantage to 15 points. The period ended with Lehman leading 53-39.
It was all Lehman in the fourth quarter as the Lightning outscored the Cardinals 23-9.
The Cardinals were led by Samantha Bonds' 14 points. Jigcara Grant led all players with 23 rebounds.
The Lightning are back in action on Friday night in a key CUNYAC contest against Brooklyn. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 PM.
