Adrian's Antoinea McElroy Selected the MIAA Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich.--The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association on Monday named Adrian College senior guard Antoinea McElroy (Massillon, Ohio/Washington High School) as the MIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week, for the period ending Sunday.

McElroy led Adrian to a 2-0 week versus MIAA competition, averaging a double-double of 27 points and 12.5 rebounds while shooting an eye-popping 69.0 percent from the field (20-for-29). She also made 4 of 6 three-pointers, three assists, two steals and four blocked shots.

McElroy started her monster week with game highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds in a 66-63 win over visiting Alma College on Wednesday. She added three assists and two blocks.

Then on Saturday, she scored 21 of her career- and game-high 33 points in the second half as the Bulldogs overcame a 17-point deficit to stun host Trine, 67-60. McElroy added 13 rebounds. She was 8-for-10 from the floor with 12 rebounds in the second half on the way to a 12-for-15 field goal shooting (3-4 3FG) night.

For the season, McElroy is second in MIAA scoring at 16.0 points per game, third with a 10.2 rebounding average, fourth in 3-point percentage (.438; 7-16), fourth with seven blocks, seventh with 12 steals and seventh in field goal accuracy (48.6 percent, 36-74).
