ATLANTA, Ga.—After trailing for most of the first and second periods, the Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team made a 38-point swing to defeat Agnes Scott College 70-49 Monday evening in Atlanta.

The Panthers remained undefeated and moved to 5-0, while the Scotties fell to 1-5. The 5-0 start marks the best for the program since the 2003-04 season, when BSC also started at 5-0.

Agnes Scott opened the game on a tear, racing out to a 15-2 lead while shooting 6-9 from the field in the first six minutes. The Scotties led 23-10 at the end of the first period, but the Panthers began to mount their comeback after that, opening the second period with an incredible 22-2 run to claim the lead, 32-25, at the 1:38 mark.

BSC led 35-28 at the half, and then proceeded to out-score the Scotties 15-8 in the third and 20-13 in the fourth to clinch the 21-point victory.

Senior Yorisha Bryant, who was last week's Southern Athletic Association Player of the Week, led BSC with 16 points, going 5-7 from the field and 6-9 at the free throw line. Senior Ashley Curry and junior Jameice Holmes added 10 points apiece, and Holmes led on the boards with six rebounds coming off the bench while Curry led with three assists.

BSC shot a season-high 52.2 percent (24-46) from the field and out-rebounded Agnes Scott 28-23.

The Panthers take a break for exams before returning to action on Tuesday, Dec. 15, hosting Belhaven at 6 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum.
