GREENVILLE, Pa. – Taylor Duchon and Hannah Stoneman combined for 24 points and 13 rebounds Tuesday, but it wasn't enough for the Thiel College women's basketball team in a 52-49 non-conference loss to the Penn State Behrend Lions at Beeghly Gymnasium.

A close game from start to finish, Alivia Sidley tied up the game for the Tomcats (46-46) with 3:40 remaining in the fourth quarter. However, the Lions took the lead back on a layup of their own on their next trip down the floor.

Duchon got the Tomcats within a point (50-49) when she swished a three-pointer with a minute remaining in regulation. However, the Lions converted a pair of shots from the charity stripe and did not give up another points down the stretch to hold on for the non-conference win.

Duchon made 6-of-13 shots from the hardwood, including a pair of treys, to finish with 14 points. She also pulled down nine rebounds while registering four steals and two assists. Stoneman made 4-of-6 shots from the floor and grabbed four rebounds.

Ali Goetz led the Lions with a game-high 16 points while also recording six rebounds and three steals. Dani Reinwald came off the bench to record a double-double with 12 points and a game-best 10 rebounds.

The Tomcats will open Presidents' Athletic Conference play Wednesday, Dec. 2 when they host the Geneva Golden Tornadoes. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
