Ohio Northern University, ranked #15 in the nation, took control early and overpowered the Saint Vincent women's basketball team by a score of 95-47 in the first day of the Chuck Reslar Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by the University of Rochester.

Reigning PAC Player of the Week Susie Ellis hit a 3-pointer to start the game, but the 3-0 lead would be the only advantage that the Bearcats would hold during the day.  ONU had built the lead to 20-8 by the end of the first quarter.

The Polar Bears increased the lead to 22-8 before Jasmine Weems ended the run with a layup for Saint Vincent.  With the score 27-12, Ohio Northern went on another 10-point tear, building their lead to 46-17 by halftime.

Saint Vincent fared better in the second half, adding 30 points, thanks to strong play from freshman Katie Ryan, who tallied a team-high 11 points off the bench.

Weems tallied 10 points on the day, while Ellis and Mara Benvenuti each scored 6.  Brittany Beckwith scored 5 points.  Weems had a team best 7 rebounds, while Ellis, Ryan and Beckwith each had 5 boards.  Benvenuti had four steals on the day.

Saint Vincent is now 1-1 on the season and will play in the consolation game tomorrow afternoon at 1PM, against Stevenson University (MD).
