(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – Junior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County) scored a game-high 28 points to lead the top-ranked and top-seeded Thomas More College women's basketball team to a 93-42 win over fifth-seeded Grove City College tonight (Friday, February 27, 2015) in a semifinal game of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 26-0 and advance to the championship game of the tournament tomorrow where they will play second-seeded Saint Vincent College at 5 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center. Thomas More will be seeking its ninth-straight PAC Championship Tournament title. With the loss, the Wolverines end the season at 14-14.
Thomas More shot 58.6 percent (17-of-29), including 53.8 percent from behind the three-point arc in the first half as it led 52-25 at halftime. The Saints also forced 19 Grove City turnovers and Moss scored 22 of her 28 points in the opening half.
The Saints out-scored Grove City, 41-17, in the second half as they cruised to the 93-42 victory.
Moss was joined in double-figure scoring by freshman forward Nikki Kiernan (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) with 17 points and senior guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) with 11 points. Kiernan just missed a double-double as she pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Wainscott led the team in assists with six.
