New York, NY --- The #2 seeded Brooklyn College Bulldogs defeated the #3 seeded College of Staten Island Dolphins, 69-57, in the semifinals round of the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Women's Basketball Championships, presented by Army ROTC, on Tuesday night at Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of The City College of New York (CCNY).

Brooklyn improves to 20-6 overall on the season and advances to the championship final for the third time in four years. The Bulldogs will play the top seed Baruch College Bearcats in the final on Friday, February 27th at 6:00 pm at Nat Holman Gym. The game will be broadcast live online via ESPN3.

The Bearcats defeated the #5 seeded Hunter College Hawks, 70-44, in the other semifinal match.

Baruch will be making its 10th straight championship final appearance, having won seven straight titles (eight out of the last nine). Friday's winner will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championships.

CSI falls to 16-11 overall on the year.

The Bulldogs started the game on fire and never looked back, jumping out to a 17-0 run to begin the night. Seniors Vanessa D'Ambrosi (eight points) and Megan Campbell (six points) sparked the run combining for 14 of the 17 points.

Alyssa Carlsen's free throw would end CSI's scoring drought, while her three-pointer at the 12:54 mark was the Dolphins' first made field goal of the contest. Carlsen would finish the half with a team-high six points.

Brooklyn would use its fast start to eventually take a 37-22 halftime lead. D'Ambrosi powered BC's offense in the first half with 13 points. Senior Asia Foster also pulled down 10 rebounds to help Brooklyn own the boards in the first half that saw the Bulldogs out-rebound the Dolphins 37-15.

The stingy BC defense held Staten Island to just 16.7% (5-for-30) shooting from the field in the first half, including 11.1% (2-for-18) from beyond the arc. The Dolphins took full advantage of the free throw line going 10-for-11 (90.9%) from the charity stripe.

The Bulldogs shot 38.2% (13-for-34) from the field in the first half, while going 57.1% (4-for-7) from three. BC also went 7-for-13 (53.8%) from the line.

The second half saw tight action throughout the final 20 minutes; however, the Dolphins would be unable to recover from its slow start as the Bulldogs would go on to take the wire-to-wire, 69-57, win and punch their ticket to the championship final for a rematch of the 2012 and 2013 conference finals.

D'Ambrosi, a 2015 CUNYAC Second Team All-Star, finished with a game-high of 20 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the field, including 3-for-5 from three and 5-for-7 from the line. She would go on to earn Player of the Game honors for her efforts. Campbell, a 2015 CUNYAC First Team All-Star and Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American, added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Foster grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds (11 offensive), to go with eight points.

Freshman Chrissy Heyer went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc for nine points, while senior Nicole Francomano, a 2015 CUNYAC Second Team All-Star and the active NCAA assists career leader, chipped in with seven points and five assists.

The Dolphins were led by Carlsen who finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds to register a double-double. Victoria Gallinaro added 11 points, while Christina Pasaturo, the 2015 CUNYAC Rookie of the Year, just missed out on a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
