ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Hannah Livermon (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) led all scorers with 23 points and senior Sarah Parsons (Glen Allen, Va./J.R. Tucker) added 21 points on Senior Day as the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team defeated Bridgewater 87-75 in ODAC action Saturday afternoon in Crenshaw Gymnasium to record their 20th victory of the season.
Livermon hit eight field goals, went 4 for 5 from behind the arc and 3 for 4 from the free throw line for her 23 points. She also pulled down eight rebounds.
Parsons hit seven field goals, two treys and all five free throw attempts for 21 points.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead before the Eagles scored six straight to go ahead 8-7 with 15:30 left in the first period. With the score tied at 10, R-MC put together a 10-2 spurt to take a 20-12 advantage midway through the half. BC scored six straight to cut the deficit to two at 20-18 before the Yellow Jackets tallied eight straight to take a 28-18 lead with 6:20 remaining in the period. The lead grew to 16 at 40-24 before R-MC took a 44-30 edge to the locker room at the break. Livermon went 3 for 3 from behind the arc and had 13 points, while Parsons added 10 points. Junior Katie Anderson (Beaverdam, Va./Patrick Henry) grabbed eight rebounds in the first period.
R-MC used a quick 6-2 spurt to make it an 18-point lead at 50-32. BC was able to cut it to 12 at 63-51 with 11 minutes remaining. The lead grew to 21 at 82-61 with four minutes left before the Yellow Jackets posted the 87-75 win.
Freshman Amber Lee (Rockville, Va./Patrick Henry) had 10 points and six boards off the bench for the victors. Anderson finished with seven points, 13 rebounds and three steals. Junior Khajae Hester (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) scored eight points and dished out 10 assists.
Oshene Kelly led the Eagles with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Randolph-Macon has concluded its regular season and will play in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament on Friday, Feb. 27 in Salem, Va.
