Richardson, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team went through a cold spell early in the first half and never recovered as U.T.-Dallas ran away from the Cru 93-68 Thursday evening in Richardson. UMHB falls to 12-12 overall and 8-11 in American Southwest Conference play on the season with the loss. The Comets improve to 20-4 overall and 16-3 in the ASC on the year with the victory. UTD also clinches the #2 seed in the ASC Championship Tournament with the win.

UMHB scored first and the game was close through the first three and a half minutes, but the Cru then went scoreless for the next five minutes as U.T.-Dallas used a 19-0 run to build a 24-5 lead with 11:23 left in the first half. UMHB would not get closer than 14 points for the rest of the half and trailed 50-30 at the break. The Cru could not make a dent in the Comet advantage in the second half as the lead would grow to as many as 29 points.

Macy Moore led UMHB with 19 points of the bench and she hit 5-8 from the field. Jonelle Smith added 15 points, Bridjai Chaney chipped in 13 and Alyssa Dean scored 10 for the Cru. UMHB shot 43 percent from the field as a team, but turned the ball over 18 times and the Cru was out rebounded 40-36 in the loss.

Madi Hess led a balanced attack with 16 points for the Comets and she hit 5-6 three-pointers. Amber Brown had 15 points, Emily Price scored 14 and Micaela Gonzalez and Iemah Wallace-Perry both reached double figures off the bench with 12 and 10 points respectively. UTD shot 48 percent from the field as a team and went 13-28 from beyond the arc in the victory.

The UMHB women will close out the regular season with a 1:00 PM start at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene on Saturday. Thursday's loss means the Cru will be either the #6 or #7 seed in next week's ASC Championship Tournament depending on Saturday's results. Defending conference champion U.T.-Tyler will host the ASC Tournament next Thursday through Saturday.
