Delaware, Ohio – Senior Christina Marquette scored 23 points in a narrow, 68-66, loss at Ohio Wesleyan en route to becoming Oberlin's all-time leading scorer with over 1,700 points.

The Huntington Beach, California, native surpassed Heisman Club Hall of Famer Nzinga Broussard on the all-time list as she netted 1,693 points during her illustrious career from 1999-2002. Marquette will enter Saturday's regular-season finale with 1,702 points to her credit. The 5-foot-9 standout also ripped down 13 rebounds in the game to extend her school-best total to 904.

In the game junior Lindsey Bernhardt added 15 points, while first-year Anna Moore dropped in 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Caroline Hamilton chipped in with eight points off the bench. However, Oberlin hindered its cause with 17 turnovers that led to 15 points for the Bishops.

The Bishops led by nine early on in the second half, but the Yeowomen scratched and clawed their back into the game, eventually tying the score at 55 with 5:40 to go. Just over a minute later, a fast break layup from Hamilton made it a 59-57 Oberlin advantage, but OWU would go to score the next seven points to claim a five-point lead, 64-59, with just 37 seconds left to play.

Following a quick layup by Marquette to get the Yeowomen within one possession, Sarah McQuade was sent to the line for a one-and-one opportunity with 17 seconds left on the clock. Oberlin got what they had hoped for in her missing the first, but the Bishops' LaNiece McRae came down with a clutch rebound. Taylor Dickson then went on to sink a pair of free throws to push the lead back out to five. Following another pair Marquette free throws, OWU's Sarah McQuade would hit a pair of her own to effectively end the game. Bernhardt would hit a three, but it was too little too late as less than a second remained on the clock.

McRae was a force inside all night as she scored a game-high 24 points to go along with 14 rebounds. She played a large role in the Bishops' 46-34 advantage in points in the paint.

In the opening half back-to-back 3-pointers by Hamilton gave the Yeowomen an 18-10 lead with 11:54 left on the clock. Minutes later a triple-hit by Bernhardt made it a 23-18 Oberlin advantage, but the Bishops were able to capitalize on some miscues to grab a 29-25 lead of their own with 5:28 remaining in the frame. Oberlin would tie it at 29, but OWU ultimately headed into the locker room with a 35-32 cushion.

After shooting 50-percent (16-of-32) in the first half, the Yeowomen cooled off in the second session, making 12-of-39 shots (30.8%) to finish the game at 39.4-percent (28-of-71).  OWU checked in at 40.6-percent shooting, with 26 makes on 64 attempts.

With the loss the Yeowomen moved to 14-10 overall and 10-5 in the NCAC. The Bishops improved to 13-11 and 9-6 in league play.

Oberlin will conclude the regular season on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Wittenberg.  The team will be donning pink for the WBCA Play for Kay initiative.
