GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior guard Dana Cohan scored a game-high 19 points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out four assists to lead the Knights over Plattsburgh, 78-60, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action, Friday night.

Senior forward Shannon McGinnis totaled 13 points and 12 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season while junior forward Allison McKenna had 14 points and six rebounds and sophomore guard Kara Houppert added 12 points in the victory.

"Tonight our effort was the biggest key overall. We are continuing to grow as a team and at this point in the season that is critical," said head coach Scott Hemer. "In the second half, we shot the ball better because we slowed down our execution which led to high percentage shots. The going got tough at points tonight but the team didn't fold."

Trailing 5-2 early in the first half, the Knights went on a 7-0 run capped by a lay-up from senior guard Biz Reinhardt to take a 9-5 lead at 14:48. Reinhardt finished the night with nine points and four rebounds.

Leading 14-12 with 8:34 on the clock, Geneseo put together a 9-0 run to build an 11-point lead, 23-12, with just over six minutes remaining in the first half.

At 1:21, Cohan hit one of her four three-pointers on the night to give the Knights a 31-20 lead as the team took a 31-23 lead into halftime.

With 17:50 on the clock, Reinhardt hit a lay-up to give Geneseo a 40-29 advantage but the Cardinals (7-8, 4-4 SUNYAC) hit a shot from beyond the arc to cut their deficit to five, 48-43, at 10:18.

Sophomore guard Katie Durand made a three-pointer to extend the Knights' lead to nine, 56-47, with 7:35 remaining in the game. Just over two minutes later, McGinnis made a lay-up to bring the score to 62-52 as Geneseo would hold a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.

Leading 70-58 with 2:47 left to play, Cohan hit another shot from long range to ignite an 8-2 run by the Knights to end the game.

McGinnis moved into second-place on Geneseo's all-time rebounding list, passing Lynn Hamilton '91 (829) with 835 rebounds to date. McGinnis is now 35 rebounds shy of passing Kristin Raines '94 (869) for the top spot.
