Rams Make It Ten Straight

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team remained undefeated in the Skyline Conference with a 70-56 victory tonight over St. Joseph's (L.I.). The Rams have now won ten straight games, improving to 16-8 overall, 11-0 in conference play, while the Golden Eagles dropped to 5-18, 2-9.

In the first, neither team led by more than six points with three lead changes. St. Joe's pulled away late in the half with four straight three-pointers over the final 2:59, including three straight from freshman guard Jennifer Gubell (Levittown, N.Y.). The Golden Eagles led 36-30 at the break.

The Rams scored the first 13 points of the half over a five minute span, grabbing the 43-36 advantage and never looking back as they shot 60-percent from long range and 48-percent from the field in the second half.

For Farmingdale State, junior guard Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) finished with a game-high 24 points, including six three-pointers, while adding seven rebounds, six assists and two steals. Senior guard Nicole Lanteri (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) totaled 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

St. Joe's was led by freshman forward Andrea Iavarone (Miller Place, N.Y.) with the games only double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore guard Jackie Zizzo (Bethpage, N.Y.) tallied 11 points.

Farmingdale State will closeout the regular-season on Saturday, February 21st with a conference game against Sage at 1:00 p.m. The game will mark Senior Day for seniors Nicole Lanteri, Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) and Jeanette Spillane (Islip Terrace, N.Y.).
