Keystone Clinches Playoff Berth With Victory at Baptist Bible

Clarks Summit, PA – Keystone College's women's basketball team clinched their second Colonial States Athletic Conference playoff berth in the last three seasons with a 59-33 victory at Baptist Bible College on Monday evening in the Giants' regular season finale.  Keystone ends the regular season with a 13-12 overall record and a 10-6 mark in conference play.
 
The Giants will open the conference playoffs next Monday night against an opponent and at site that will be determined by the results of other games around the league on Wednesday and Friday.
 
Keystone jumped out to a 22-2 advantage over the first 5:37 of Monday night's contest and built a 32-point halftime lead, 46-14, after forcing Baptist Bible (2-20, 2-14 CSAC) into 21 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes of play and shooting 50 percent from the floor in the frame.
 
Cierra Hensley (Frederick, MD/Frederick) paced Keystone with 12 points and six rebounds in the opening 20 minutes of play with Jazmyn Robinson (Hyattsville, MD/Northwestern) and Alyssa Cuomo (Odessa, DE/Hodgson Vo-tech) netting nine points apiece.  Robinson led all players with eight assists in the first half for the Giants, who went 2-9 from three-point range and 4-6 from the free throw line in the period.
 
Callie Kitowski scored 10 of Baptist Bible's 14 points in the opening stanza to go along with six rebounds.  The Defenders connected on 26.9 percent of their field goal attempts in the first frame.
 
Keystone opened the second half with a 7-2 spurt to claim their largest lead of the game, 53-16, with 16:34 left on the clock.  With the Giants rolling players in and out of the game, Baptist Bible outscored the visitors 12-4 over the final 10 minutes of the contest to account for the final score.
 
Hensley and Cuomo tied for a game-high with 12 points apiece for Keystone with Hensley's six rebounds leading the squad.  Cuomo corralled five boards for the Giants while Robinson netted 11 points to go along with game-highs of eight assists and six steals. 
 
Ashley Evans (Wooster, OH/Wooster) chipped in with seven points while AAliya Hayes (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) added six point and five rebounds for the Giants, who ended the night hitting on 39.1 percent of their field goal attempts while going 3-13 from downtown and 6-10 from the free throw line.
 
Kitowski finished with a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds for Baptist Bible, who also got 11 boards from Erika Longwell.  The hosts shot 32.7 percent from the floor in the setback while going 1-5 from beyond the arc and 0-1 from the stripe.
 
Keystone last appeared in the CSAC playoffs in 2012-13 when they qualified as the #6 seed and upset #3 Rosemont College on the road in the first round, 82-81, before falling to eventual conference champion Cabrini College in the semifinals, 72-62.
