Hummel's Career Day Helps Pomona-Pitzer Women Cruise

Claremont, Calif. - Junior forward Amelia Hummel had a career-high 31 points on 14-19 shooting, pulled down a career-high tying 17 rebounds, and added five blocks and four assists, to lead the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team to an 81-52 win over Caltech on Saturday evening at Voelkel Gymnasium. 

With the win, the Sagehens improve to 6-16 overall and 5-8 in the SCIAC, after completing season sweeps of both Occidental and Caltech this week. The Beavers fall to 0-22 overall and 0-13 in the league with the loss. 

Sophomore Basha Brulee-Wills added her 10th double-double in 13 league games with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Alaina Woo chipped in with 20 points, including five three-pointers. Woo made eight threes against the Beavers in the first meeting, which the Sagehens won 68-60. 

Sophomore Kacie Hitomi added a career-high 10 assists to lead the Pomona-Pitzer offensive attack, and freshman Hannah Green added nine points on three three-pointers off the bench.

Hummel had 16 points and 11 rebounds at the half to stake the Sagehens to a 32-18 lead, and then scored on the first two possessions of the second half to essentially put the game out of reach. Kate Lewis had a big day in a losing cause for Caltech as well, tallying 27 points and 11 rebounds.

Pomona-Pitzer is back in action on Wednesday when it travels to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday night in a game that will be played at the Linde Activities Center.
