The nationally ranked Hope College women's basketball team survived a defensive struggle to beat Olivet College 42-35 on Senior Day Saturday at DeVos Fieldhouse.
The Flying Dutch won their seventh game in a row while raising their record to 21-2 overall and 13-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.
Junior Maura McAfee of Midland, Michigan (Midland HS), recorded her 13th double-double of the season with a game-high 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Senior Rebekah Llorens of Grayslake, Illinois (Grayslake HS), and junior Autumn Anderson of Wayland, Michigan (Wayland HS), chipped in seven points apiece.
Senior Brittany Berry of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS) made one 3-pointer to give her 67 for the season and break the school record that previously belonged to Nicki Mannes from the 1993-94 season.
Hope attempted a DeVos Fieldhouse-record 30 3-pointers and made four of them.
The Flying Dutch honored seven seniors during a pre-game ceremony, including six players: Berry, Llorens, Hannah Doell of Center Valley, Pennsylvania (Southern Lehigh HS), Melissa LaReau of Bradley, Illinois (Bishop McNamara Catholic HS), Emily Klauka of Holt, Michigan (Holt HS), and Kamara Sudberry of Clio, Michigan (Clio HS). Student assistant coach Erika Prine also was recognized.
Hope's record over the past four seasons is 100-10.
The Flying Dutch overcame their lowest scoring output at DeVos Fieldhouse to sweep the season series from Olivet (12-11, 7-7).
The previous record of 23 happened during the second half of 48-39 win against Alma on January 22, 2001. Hope had 20 in the second half against Olivet after leading 22-19 at halftime.
The Flying Dutch were tied for 11th in this week's USA Today Sports NCAA Division III coaches poll and ranked 13th by d3hoops.com.
