Brooklyn, NY --- In a battle for borough bragging rights, the Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team scored 26 points off of 25 turnovers to cruise to its 21-point victory, 67-46, over the visiting Lady Bears of St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) at the West Quad Center on Wednesday night.

With the win, Brooklyn improves to 17-5 overall on the year and extends its winning streak to nine straight. St. Joseph's (BK) falls to 14-9 overall on the season with the loss.

"Tonight we gave a strong effort and were able to put away the game in the second half," said Head Coach Alex Lang.  "Vanessa (D'Ambrosi) was on fire and put on some shooting display. She has really hit her stride over the last six or seven games and is playing with a ton of confidence."

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was the senior trio of D'Ambrosi, Nicole Francomano and Megan Campbell. D'Ambrosi led all scorers with 24 points (18 in the second half) doing all of her damage from behind the arc, hitting eight three-pointers, to go with nine rebounds.  Francomano filled up the stat sheet with 19 points, seven steals, six assists and four rebounds, while Campbell recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Francomano is now only 16 points away from 1,000 for her career as a Bulldog.

Taylor Raccuglia led the Lady Bears with 21 points, while Samantha Retas pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Other than a 2-2 tie in the opening minute of the game, the Bulldogs held the lead for the entire game.

Brooklyn would take control of the game going up by 12, 20-8, at the 13:57 mark of the half. The Lady Bears would not go down lightly, chipping away at their deficit and getting to within three, 26-23, with 6:39 left before the halftime break, forcing BC to call a timeout.

The Bulldogs would regroup, scoring eight straight to go ahead 11, 34-23, at the 4:13 mark, as the home team would take a nine-point, 36-27, halftime advantage.

The home team would open the second half on a 7-2 run to take a commanding 14-point lead, 43-29, with 16:22 remaining in the game. Brooklyn would lead by double digits the rest of the way, en route to its 67-46 victory.

For the game, Brooklyn shot 39.4% (26-for-66) from the field, including 38.1% (8-for-21) from three. The Bulldogs went 7-for-9 (77.8%) from the line.

Brooklyn returns to action this Friday, February 13th, as the Bulldogs will welcome the Cougars of Medgar Evers College to the West Quad Center for a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
