BELOIT, Wis. - St. Norbert College clinched a share of its 13th Midwest Conference title with an 83-62 win over Beloit College at Flood Arena.

The Green Knights' win, coupled with Carroll University's 66-62 loss at Grinnell College, puts them three games ahead of Carroll with three games remaining. St. Norbert (17-3, 14-1 MWC) swept the Pioneers during the regular season, which clinches hosting duties for the MWC Tournament on Feb. 27-28.

The share of the MWC title is the Green Knights' sixth in the last eight years, and a league record 13th championship. The conference basketball title is the 17th overall for Connie Tilley in her 38 seasons.

St. Norbert built a big lead early only to watch it melt almost entirely away by halftime. The Green Knights took a 10-0 lead out of the gate, keyed by 3-pointers from Brianna Byrne and Jill Kleiman. St. Norbert led by as many as 15 points in the first half and still led 39-27 with 3 minutes to go on a 3-pointer by Byrne. The Buccaneers closed out the half on a 12-2 run to get to within 41-39 at intermission.

The Green Knights needed just five minutes to build their lead back to double digits, taking a 56-44 lead with 14:40 remaining on a 3-pointer by Kleiman. The Buccaneers would get to within 10 points two possessions later on a basket by Lana Wieseman, but would get no closer. St. Norbert went on an 8-0 run from there to seal the win.

Byrne pumped in a career-high 29 points to lead the Green Knights, connecting on 11 of 19 field-goal attempts. Heidi Van Sistine added 14 points, while Kleiman and Stephanie Weigman had 12 points apiece. The Green Knights shot 55 percent (33-for-60) from the floor.

Beloit shot 42.9 percent (21-for-49) form the floor but was plagued by 26 turnovers. Lana Wieseman had 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Laura Panicali also had 16 points.
