Keene, N.H.-Keene State senior forward Christan Wojtas (Amherst, NH) scored a game-high 27 points, leading three Owls in double figures, as the Owls topped the Rhode Island College women's basketball team, 92-52, in Little East Conference action  on Saturday afternoon.

The Anchorwomen (6-15, 4-6 LEC) opened an 11-7 lead when sophomore guard Alex Moore (West Newbury, MA) nailed a trifecta with 15:45 left in the half. The Owls (13-8, 5-5 LEC) responded, taking a six-point lead, 19-13, when sophomore forward Amanda Petrow (Methuen, MA) notched a layup with 10:35 left in the first. Keene used a 25-13 run down the stretch to take a commanding, 44-26, lead into the locker room at half.  

Moore scored eight points for the Anchorwomen, while Wojtas poured in 21 points for the Owls in the half.

The Owls kept their foot on the gas when the second half got underway and used an 18-2 run to extend their lead to 34, 62-28, with 14:20 to play in the game. The Owls used stifling defense to prevent RIC from gaining any ground and extending their lead to as large as 43 points, before finishing with a 40-point, 92-52 victory.

Moore, and freshmen guards Jess Korzec (West Brookfield, MA) and Jessa Rubera (Newton, MA) each scored eight points to lead the Anchorwomen. RIC shot 33.3 percent (19-for-57) from the field, while being held to 29.4 percent (5-for-17) from downtown. They shot 56.2 percent (9-for-16) from the charity stripe.

Wojtas paced the Owls with 27 points, with junior guard Kelsey Cognetta (Stamford, CT) and Petrow each reaching double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Owls shot 50.7 percent (35-for-69) from the field and 31.8 percent (7-for-22) from three-point range. They shot 78.9 percent (15-for-19) from the free throw line as a team.

 In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Western Connecticut on Tuesday, Feb. 11 (5:30 p.m.).
