SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 6, 2015) – A career-high 32 points by junior Jamie Chauvin helped the Sewanee women's basketball team top Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Hendrix in double overtime, 78-73, Friday inside Juhan Gymnasium.

The win snapped the Tigers' four-game losing streak. After a series of close home losses, Sewanee finally won a game decided by 10 points or less.

That being said, Sewanee (11-8, 3-6 SAA) came out of the gate slowly. Hendrix jumped out to an 11-6 lead with five minutes off the clock.

Sewanee briefly answered back two minutes later, when Kayla Sewell connected on a three and Casey Hassett made a layup.

Eventually, Hendrix would lead by eight, 31-23, at halftime. In the second half, Sewanee rallied early. The Tigers scored the first six points to pull to within three, 35-32. Minutes later, a three by Kelley Myers, and seven straight points by Chauvin, gave Sewanee the lead at 52-51.

However, in a game with 10 ties and four lead changes, both teams remained close throughout regulation.

With the score tied 58-58, Hannah McCormack pushed Sewanee in front to start overtime with a three. Rebekah Faulkner then followed with layup to put Sewanee ahead by five, 63-58.

Hendrix would answer back with a jumper by Caitlyn Kriesel-Bigler. Kriesel-Bigier then scored the next five Warrior points to tie the game at 65-65.

With 36 seconds remaining, Chauvin made a layup to put Sewanee back in front, 67-65. After a Kriesel-Bigler miss, Sara Dyslin grabbed an offensive rebound and made the ensuing put-back to send the game into the second extra period.

In the final five minutes, Sewanee's offense went on an 8-0 run with 2:18 to play. That allowed the Tigers to take a 75-71 advantage with 17 seconds left. From there, Myers and Chauvin sealed the win with three free throws.

Overall, Sewanee made 40 percent of its attempts. That included a 18-for-39 effort after the first half.

Along with Chauvin, Sewell played well with an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double and six assists. McCormack also finished in double figures with 11 points.

Kriesel-Bigler led Hendrix with a team-high 29 points.

Sewanee will now host rival Rhodes at 1:00 p.m., Sunday.
