The nationally ranked Hope College women's basketball team won 72-47 at Saint Mary's on Saturday as senior Brittany Berry became the second Flying Dutch player to reach the 200 mark for career 3-pointers.
Berry scored a game-high 15 points while shooting 5-of-8 from the floor. All of her field-goal attempts were 3-pointers.
The guard from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS), now has 201 career 3-pointers. Only Jordyn Boles has more in Hope history, with 218 over four seasons between 2004-08.
Senior center Rebekah Llorens of Grayslake, Illinois (Grayslake Central HS), chipped in 13 points for the Flying Dutch, while junior forward Maura McAfee of Midland, Michigan (Midland HS) added 12 points, a game-high eight rebounds and four steals.
Hope improved to 18-2 overall and 10-1 in MIAA play with its fourth consecutive win. The Flying Dutch remained one-half game behind league-leading Calvin.
Hope missed 10 of its first 11 shots but rebounded to seize a 44-21 halftime lead.
The Flying Dutch return to action on Saturday, February 7, at Albion. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.
