Farmingdale State - 78, Purchase - 58
Purchase, N.Y. - After Farmingdale State held a two-point lead at the break, the Rams outscored Purchase 40-22 in the second half en route to a 78-58 conference victory on Thursday night. The Farmingdale State women's basketball team won their third straight game and improved to 9-8 overall and 5-0 in the Skyline.
Leading 38-36 to start the second half, the Rams opened on a 12-0 run to take a 50-36 advantage with 15:23 remaining. After a Purchase (2-14, 0-6) basket, Jeanette Spillane (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) hit a layup and Nicole Lanteri (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) scored and converted a free-throw to put Farmingdale ahead by 17.
The Rams extended their lead to as many as 23 late in the game as they earned the 78-58 conference victory.
Junior guard Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored a team-high 25 points and had five assists and four steals, while Lanteri had 20 points and four steals.
The Panthers were led by junior guard Kristine Viven (New York, N.Y.) who tallied a double-double with a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds.
Farmingdale State next will host Yeshiva on Sunday, February 1st at 1:00 p.m.
