ROANOKE, Va.---Kali Cuttaia and Brittany Drew led the Quakers with 16 points apiece as Guilford College claimed a Wednesday evening Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Hollins University, 66-48.
The Quakers (10-8, 4-5 ODAC) created distance from Hollins (2-15, 0-9 ODAC) in the first when they manufactured a 13-2 run over a 4:48 stretch in the first half until Hollins responded with a pair of free throws with 6:28 left in the period. The Quakers held their double-digit lead for most of the rest of the period, going into halftime up ten points. Guilford opened the second period with an 11-0 and extended their lead as large as 27 points to secure the win.
Cuttaia added six rebounds to her night, all on the offensive glasses, while adding two blocks to her league-leading total. Drew added four rebounds, four assists, and three steals to her offensive output. Anais Weatherly added eight points and 12 rebounds.
Britney Campbell led Hollins with 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting with six rebounds. Jewellanna Parfitt was the remaining Hollins player in double-figure scoring, adding 10 points on 3-of-14 shooting.
The Quakers shot 40 percent from the field, including 45.5 percent second-half shooting. Hollins shot 27.1 percent in the contest and shot below 30 percent for each half. Guilford shot 6-of-16 (37.5 percent) from three-point range while Hollins shot 7-of-20 (35 percent) from beyond the arc.
Guilford held the advantage in points off turnovers, 19-7, while only turning over the basketball seven times in the period. Hollins totaled 13 miscues. The Quakers out-rebounded Hollins, 45-42, with each team totaling 14 offensive rebounds.
The Quakers return to action Saturday, hosting Washington and Lee University for a 2 p.m. ODAC contest inside Ragan-Brown Field House.
