Cook Nets 14 In Boxers' Loss At George Fox

NEWBERG, Ore. – The No. 8/6 George Fox Bruins proved too much for Pacific, as the Boxers fell 81-57 at the Wheeler Sports Center, despite a 14 point and eight rebound performance from Olivia Cook on Tuesday evening.
 
The Boxers opened the scoring with a Sarah Curl (So., Portland, Ore.) layup off an assist from Kaila Johnson (Sr, McKinleyville, Calif.). A quick response from George Fox was followed up by a layup by Kyla Siri (Jr., Spring Creek, Nev.), who made her first start in a Pacific uniform on Tuesday.
 
The back-and-forth game continued through the first four minutes until the clock read 15:16 and the Bruins set-off on a five-point swing to take a lead that they would not relinquish for the remainder of the evening.
 
The Boxers stayed within single digits with jumpers from Johnson and Kelsey Misseldine (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) until the 8:25 mark when a Bruins 3-pointer pushed the George Fox advantage to double-digits.
 
Pacific was unable to catch the Bruins as the opening period continued as George Fox left the floor at the break with a 39-22 lead.
 
Siri tallied the opening point of the second period from the free throw line, with the first Pacific points from the field in the second half coming at the 13:24 mark as Misseldine hit a jumper to pull Pacific within 31.
 
Pacific managed to cut the home sides lead down to 24 as regulation came to a close with Maia LaBoy (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii) scored on a layup off an assist from Allison Warren (Fr., Sherwood, Ore.).
 
The Boxers outscored the Bruins 21-20 off the bench, while outrebounding George Fox 38-33on the evening.
 
Cook led Pacific with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Nani Ostrom (Sr., Juneau, Alaska) and Misseldine both chipped in eight points on the offensive end. Cook dished out five assists for the Boxers.
 
The defensive end saw Siri and Misseldine pick-up two steals each. Curl finished the evening with three blocked shots.
 
Pacific returns to the Stoller Center on Friday for a 6 p.m. scheduled tip against Willamette.
