Pitt-Bradford bounces back with 78-66 victory over the Mavericks

Bradford, Pa. - The Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team notched its tenth win of the season and seventh in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference with a 78-66 victory over the Medaille Mavericks on Monday night at the KOA Arena.

Freshman Ali Rinfrette led the team with 20 points and added seven rebounds in the offensive attack for the Panthers. Senior Alicia Kimmel collected a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebound to add to the Panthers victory.

Pitt-Bradford (10-5, 7-2) was strong on the boards throughout the contest, racking up a total of 49 rebounds to the Mavericks 34. Medaille (5-10, 4-5) appeared to have slippery hands during the matchup as Pitt-Bradford cause a total of 18 turnovers and committed just 14 of its own.

The Panthers were led in the first half by an outpouring of points from Rinfrette. The freshman scored 16 while shooting 6-of-8 from the field and 4-of-4 from the line. As a team, Pitt-Bradford shot 46.9 percent. The Panthers lead by 12 at the half, 40-28.

The second half started with Medaille trimming the lead to six. The Panthers then went on an eight point run, taking the lead back to 14 points.

Kimmel took control of the game in the second half by collecting 10 of her 19 on the night. Freshman Brooke Osborne added six rebounds in the second period for a total of 10 points in the contest.

"Good win tonight after a tough loss on Saturday," says Coach Daniel. "It was not pretty, but we did enough to get the win."

For the game the Panthers shot 44.4 percent and went 22-of-32 from the line. Medaille finished its night with 34.8 percent, while 11-of-18 from the stripe.

The Lady Panthers now turn their focus to Franciscan. The Barons come to town for a 1 p.m. tip at the KOA Arena on Saturday, Jan. 24.
