ROCHESTER, NY—The Alfred University women's basketball team struggled against a tough opponent on the road at Nazareth College Friday evening.

The Saxons were outscored 40-20 in the first half, which set the tone for the rest of the game.  AU would eventually fall, 82-39, after being dominated both in points in the paint (17-2) and points off turnovers (36-20).  Naz moves to 8-5 (Empire 8 3-1) on the season after the big win against the Saxons.

During the first 5:30 of the game, the Saxons were close behind the Golden Flyers only back four points.  However, Naz turned up the heat in the closing minutes of the half going on a quick 16-7 run to grab a 20 point lead at the half, 40-20.

Sophomore Amanda Off (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) had half the Saxons' points with 10 in the first half while ripping down four rebounds amongst the dominant front court of the Golden Flyers.

In the second stanza of the game, the Flyers opened just as hot as they closed the first half going on an 11-2 run in the first 3:10 to grab a 29-point lead.  From there, Naz was able to maintain a large lead and carry it to the finish line.

Off matched her numbers from the first half to double her stats to 20 points and eight rebounds on the game.  Freshman guard McKaylee Croll (Perry, NY/Perry) added eight points and two rebounds to the game.

The Saxons (4-10, E8 1-5) return to action on Tuesday when they head back to Rochester to take on St. John Fisher College.
