FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Rachel Wiley (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, but Hood fell to Stevenson 59-46 in Commonwealth Conference play.
Wiley topped 800 career rebounds in the game, becoming only the fourth player in school history to reach the milestone. The senior also had five steals and three blocks in the game.
After Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) sank two free throws to tie the score 4-4 early in the first half to start a 10-2 run that put Hood ahead 12-6 with 12 minutes remaining.
Stevenson responded with a seven-point run for a 13-12 lead, but a 3-point field goal from Arianna Delerme (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) and two foul shots from Verkia Smith (Waldorf, Md. / North Point) gave Hood the lead again, 17-16 with eight minutes to go in the half.
The Mustangs' Sara Tarbert started an 11-2 to end the half as the Mustangs led 28-21 at the intermission.
With three minutes left, the Mustangs went on a 9-6 to finalize the victory, 59-46.
Smith had 11 points on the day and Delerme added seven. Rachel Kessler (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) had four assists and four steals.
Tarbert had a double-double for Stevenson with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Kayla Kelly added 19 points and four assists.
Hood looks to get back in the win column against Albright on January 17.
