Brooklyn Improves to 7-1 In CUNYAC Play, Downs Hunter 54-46

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team ended a two game skid by defeating Hunter 54-46 on Wednesday evening at West Quad.  The win boosted the Bulldogs to 7-1 in conference play and 9-5 overall, while Hunter falls to 5-10, 3-4 CUNYAC.

After falling behind early, 2-1, Brooklyn jumped out to a 15-7 lead in what was a rough shooting half for both teams. The Bulldogs kept the lead going into the locker room up 18-11 as Nicole Francomano led all first half scoring with seven, and Chrissy Heyer chipped in with six off the bench.  

Second half action saw Brooklyn start to take control, as they opened the half on a 7-0 run that extended the lead to 15.  Hunter would claw back with a 16-2 run of their own to come to within one point of the Bulldogs, 28-27. 

Vanessa D'Ambrosi would knocked down threes on the following two possessions, to extend the lead back to seven.  BC would keep the lead for the entire half, extending it to eight on a Francomano three with 2:47 to play, as the Bulldogs would hold and win by that margin, 54-46.

Francomano led all scorers with 22 points and five assists.  D'Ambrosi added 13 points, while Megan Campbell finished with a double-double of 12 points and 11 boards. 

Kristen Markoe led Hunter with 15 points. 

Brooklyn will be on the road Friday as they take on Farmingdale State at 6 pm in non-conference action.
