Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw shot 54.3 percent for the game including 66.7 percent in the second half and stayed perfect in North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 72-39 win over visiting Kenyon. The Tigers, ranked 12th in the latest coaches' poll and 14th by D3hoops.com, improved to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the NCAC, while the Ladies dropped to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
Both teams played through sluggish starts on the offensive end with the game tied 8-8 through the opening eight minutes. The Tigers scored nine straight points with five coming from Savannah Trees. The lead reached as many as 13 before Kenyon scored the final five of the first half to close the Tigers' advantage to 27-19.
The Tigers hit four of their first five shots in the second half for a 9-0 run that pushed the margin to 17 at 36-19. Kenyon answered with a basket, but that's as close as the Ladies got as DePauwoutscored their guests 20-6 over the final 10 minutes.
Trees led the Tigers with 17 followed by Hannah Douglas with 16 and Taylor Howard with 10. Bailey Dominguez paced the Ladies with nine points.
Abby Keller grabbed six rebounds for DePauw with Sarah Hobbs and Lauren Kriete each finishing with three for Kenyon. DePauw's Emma Ondik dished out four assists with Kriete and Sidney Cera each totaling two for the Ladies.
The Tigers entered the game with the fourth-best field goal percentage in Division III and their 54.3 percent performance marked the fifth time this year they've reached at least 50 percent.Kenyon connected on just 27.7 percent from the floor.
DePauw held a 37-22 edge on the boards and converted 15 Kenyon turnovers into 15 points.
With the win, the Tigers extended their home regular season win streak to 62 straight and their home conference win string to 91.
DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, January 14, with a 6 p.m. contest at Wittenberg.
