BOSTON, Mass.- Junior Ashley Raaf matched her career high with 21 points on Saturday afternoon, helping the Manhattanville women's basketball team rout Simmons by a final score of 80-50.

In the contest, senior Alyson Caiazzo became the second Valiant to ever register 1,000 rebounds at Manhattanville (9-4). A game-high 12 rebounds against Simmons (4-8) now puts Caiazzo at 1,005 career boards in just 79 career games. The Valiants shot 50.8 percent (32-63) for the game, including an impressive 63.3 percent (19-30) in the first half.

Along with Raaf, three other Valiants finished in double figures, including junior Ashley Franklin and senior Bri Pabon, tallying 16 and 13 points, respectively. Sophomore Alyson Chase also had a solid game, scoring 10 points, all coming in the first half of play.

Two consecutive 3-pointers from Chase and Franklin opened the game up for Manhattanville as the Valiants took a 6-2 lead in the first minute of play. The Valiants never trailed once in the contest and continually took advantage of Simmons' turnovers. Manhattanville opened up the first 10 minutes of the game by outscoring the Sharks 27-7.  With the Valiants dominating the Sharks in practically every aspect of the game, Manhattanville eventually took a 46-20 lead into the half.

Simmons tried slowing down the impressive shooting of Manhattanville in the second half, but the Valiants were too much for the Sharks. The closest Simmons could come within Manhattanville in the second half was 18 points with 8:48 left before the Valiants pulled away even more down the stretch. After a free throw from freshman Samantha Milazzo, the Valiants held their biggest lead at 32 with 3:16 left, 76-44. The final basket of the game just so happened to be the first collegiate points from freshman Katie Zambrotta, as she knocked down a jumper from beyond the arc, leading the Valiants to an 80-50 win over Simmons.

The Valiants will return home on Wednesday night as they take on Freedom Conference foe Delaware Valley at 6 p.m. Both live video and live stats are available via GoValiants.com.
