LA PLUME, Pa. – The Cabrini women's basketball team cruised to its third consecutive victory, as it downed Keystone College 66-39 tonight in La Plume, Pa. The victory improved the Cavaliers to 9-3 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
Senior Amber Keys led the Cavaliers with 24 points, 10 rebounds, three steal and two blocked shots. The senior's eighth double-double of the season leaves her just 24 points shy of becoming the 11th member of Cabrini's 1,000 career point club.
Junior Dana Peterson and sophomore Meghan Barth added 10 points each, marking a career high for Barth. Senior Megan Decker paired nine points and nine boards, while sophomore Tayler Holmes recorded eight points and seven rebounds.
The Cavaliers took control of the game in the opening minutes, scoring the first 10 points of the contest. The Blue and White held the Giants to just seven made field goals in the opening 20 minutes, as it built a 34-17 halftime lead.
Cabrini continued its defensive dominance after the break, holding Keystone to 9-24 shooting in the second half.
The Blue and White forced 25 turnovers on the night and converted them into 23 points.
Cabrini also dominated the lane, building a +10 rebounding advantage including 25-9 in offensive rebounds. The rebound advantage led to a 18-1 surplus in second chance points and 32-18 lead in points in the paint.
Jazmyn Robinson led Keystone (5-7, 2-1 CSAC) with 10 points, while AAliya Hayes added nine.
The Cavaliers will look to extend their lead on Saturday, as they host Cairn University (2-6, 0-3 CSAC). Game time is slated for 1 p.m. as the first game of a women's and men's CSAC doubleheader.
