ROME, Ga. -- Led by Mel McLean's and Emma Cook's 14 points apiece, the Berry College women's basketball team defeated Agnes Scott College, 68-41, at home on Tuesday night.
The win improved the Vikings to 9-3. The loss dropped the Scotties to 2-7 overall.
McLean and Cook led the Berry offense throughout the night. McLean was 5-9 from field goal range, as well as 4-8 from beyond the three point line. She also collected six rebounds in the win. Cook was 4-7 in shooting, and a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
Megan Casey was the third Viking with double digit points on the evening. The freshman came off the bench to score 10 points and collect 12 rebounds in the contest.
Shavonne Orr led the Scotties with nine points and six rebounds.
The Vikings held a 35-17 halftime lead. Berry led the Scotties in rebounds, 47-33. BC shot 44-percent (23-57) to ASC's 28-percent (16-57).
"I was happy with the way we played after a long holiday layoff," said Berry Head Coach Stephanie Dunn. "This was our last non-conference game and we are excited to get back to conference play this weekend."
BC looks to grab their third consecutive win as they take on Hendrix College at home on Friday, January 9, at 6 p.m.
