#3 Amherst - 67, Farmingdale State - 40


Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior forward Megan Robertson (Tewksbury, Mass.) scored her 1,000th career point on a layup with 5:49 remaining in the game as third-ranked Amherst earned a 67-40 victory over Farmingdale State this evening. The Jeff's improved to a perfect 11-0 on the season, while the Rams dropped to 4-7.

Amherst started fast and jumped out to a 20-2 lead with 10:33 remaining in the first half. Trailing 24-4, Farmingdale State's Amanda Masson (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) each converted a pair of free-throw's to cut the deficit to 24-8 with 6:06 left to play. The Jeff's took a 19-point advantage at 36-17 into halftime.

Leading 43-24 early in the second half, Amherst used a 19-3 run to open up their largest lead of the game at 62-27 with 7:44 left on the clock. Farmingdale State responded with seven unanswered points but would eventually fall, 67-40.

Senior guard Nicole Lanteri (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) scored 10 points and had seven rebounds, while Desvignes tallied 10 points, nine boards, four assists and three steals for the Rams.

Robertson, who reached the 1,000 career point mark late in the second half, finished with a team-high 16 points, while adding nine rebounds and a game-high five blocks. Junior guard Marley Giddens (Irvington, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Ali Doswell (Richmond, Va.) each had 11 points in the victory.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Sage for a Skyline Conference game on Friday, January 9th at 7:00 p.m.
