Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team won their sixth straight, defeating visiting York 75-54 at West Quad. With the win, the Bulldogs remain undefeated in conference play, improving to 6-0 in the CUNYAC, while moving to 8-3 overall. York falls to 3-8, 2-3 CUNYAC.
Brooklyn opened up a quick 10-2 lead, however they failed to convert on many easy chances around the basket and allowed York to close the deficit to only two, 15-13.
Following the Cardinal run, the Bulldogs quickly went on a run of their own as a Megan Campbell layup capped a 7-0 spurt to push the advantage to nine, 22-13.
Following a Tamika Taylor layup for York to cut the lead to 22-15, Brooklyn went on another impressive run, as a Karen Mak layup stretched the advantage to 36-22 with 2:57 to play in the half.
York was able to head into the locker room on a high note, as Taylor drained a deep three to cut the BC lead to eight, 36-28, right before the half.
In the second half it became all BC quickly as layups by Campbell and Nicole Francomano, followed by a Mak three-pointer, ballooned the lead to 15 for a 7-0 Bulldogs run to start the half.
The lead never dipped under double-figures for the remainder of the game as Brooklyn led by as many as 22.
Campbell, the reigning conference player of the week, led all scorers with 20 points, while adding eight boards.
Francomano dished out a game-high 11 assists. It was the third time this season the senior point guard handed out double-figure assists.
Vanessa D'Ambrosi poured in a solid all-around game with a game-high 11 boards, nine points and five assists.
Nacirema Mann continued her outstanding play off the BC bench, scoring 11 points and pulling down nine boards, while fellow reserve Christina Heyer was a perfect 2-2 from behind the arc.
The Cardinals were led by Angelika Ruggiano's 16 points.
Brooklyn will be back in action on Thursday when they'll face the #1 ranked team in the nation, FDU-Florham. The Devils, who are the reigning NCAA Division III National Champions, bring a 45-game win streak to the West Quad Center. The game will be the second half of a doubleheader with the men's team, who plays St. Joseph's College Brooklyn, and will be scheduled for 7:15.
