BLUFFTON, Ohio – Denison University placed four of its starters in double figures as the Big Red earned a 78-62 victory over Albion College in the championship game of the McDonald's of Bluffton Tournament.
Neither team led by more than five for the first 14 minutes of the contest that featured seven lead changes. Albion led 21-18 when Mikaela Bromley knocked down a three-point basket with six minutes left in the first half. Denison finished the period on an 18-6 binge as Kellie Arter poured in nine points.
Denison was never threatened in the second half, leading by at least eight. The Big Red gained its biggest lead when Gabrielle Nottage scored a basket to make the score 75-52 with four minutes left.
Oreyana Curry and Darian Payne scored 15 and 10, respectively, for the Britons to gain all-tournament awayrd. Bromley led the Britons with 16.
Arter led all players with 21 points.
Albion, 7-4 overall, returns to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association competition 3 p.m. Saturday with a game at Trine University.
