Old Westbury, NY- The Women's Basketball 2014-15 season got underway earlier tonight, when the Cougars played the College of Old Westbury Panthers. The Panthers defeated the Cougars 88-33.
The Cougars (0-1 overall) were led by Sophomore Guard Ashley Desir, who recorded a career high 14pts (4-12 FG-FGA, 6-9 FT-FTA). Desir grabbed two rebounds and added a block. Freshman Forward Jade Venson scored 11pts. (3-6 FG-FGA and 5-10 FT-FTA). The Bronx, NY native grabbed nine rebounds (all defensive), added two blocks, and a steal.
The Panthers (1-0 overall) had five student-athletes score in double digits including the following: Jasmine Robinson (20pts), Clarissa Gallagher (14pts), Olivia Ilardi (10pts), Raven Pentz (10pts), and Crystal Barnes (10pts).
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday November 19, 2014, when they travel Patchogue, NY, and take on the Saint Joseph's College of Long Island Eagles. Game time is 5:30pm.
