Hope Women's Basketball Wins At Franklin 54-34

A season-best defensive performance propelled the nationally ranked Hope College women's basketball team to a 54-34 win at Franklin (Indiana) on Wednesday.

The Flying Dutch improved to 8-1 overall with their fifth consecutive win.

Hope limited Franklin (5-2 overall) to 12 second-half points and 28.4 percent field-goal shooting for the game (14-53).

Three Flying Dutch scored in double figures during the nonleague win.

Junior forward Maura McAfee of Midland, Michigan (Midland HS), recorded a game-high 13 points and 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.

Senior forward Hannah Doell of Center Valley, Pennsylvania (Southern Lehigh HS), added 12 points.

Sophomore forward Mandy Travera on Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North HS), chipped in 10 points off the bench.

Senior center Emily Klauka of Holt, Michigan (Holt HS), contributed eight points off the bench. 

Hope returns to action on Dec. 30-31 at the Ohio Wesleyan Bishop Classic.
