#10 NYU Remains Perfect with Win Over Rams

Manhattan, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team lost a non-conference road game at 10th-ranked New York University last night. The Rams now stand at an even 3-3 on the year, while the Violets remained perfect at 8-0.

Leading 19-6 midway through the first half, NYU used an 11-2 run to increase their advantage to 30-8. An Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) 3- pointer ended the Violets run, but NYU outscored Farmingdale State 15-9 over the final minutes of the half to take a 45-20 lead into the break. NYU shot 51% from the field, including 40% from behind the arc in the first half.

The Violets scored 11 unanswered points to start the second half to open up their largest lead of the game at 56-20.

Trailing 66-33 with 8:05 remaining, a 16-2 Farmingdale State run cut the deficit to 68-49 with less than two minutes left to play. NYU went on for the 72-51 non-conference victory.

Senior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) recorded a team-high 17 points, while Desvignes added 14 points for the Rams. Senior guard Nicole Lanteri (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) scored six points and had a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Violets were led by sophomore center Emily Rowe (Vancouver, Wash.) who recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Albertus Magnus for a non-conference game on Saturday, December 13th at 1:00 p.m.
