Britons Turn Attention To Hope Opener

HIRAM, Ohio – Albion College fell behind by 15 midway through the first half and it trailed by double digits the rest of the way in a 66-55 loss to Allegheny  College on the second day of the Terrier Tip-Off Classic.

Oreyana Curry knocked down a pair of 3-point baskets in the first minute as Albion started the day with a 6-3 lead. Erin Nelson scored a basket in paint as Albion forged an 8-8 tie two minutes into the game.

Allegheny went on a 20-5 tear over eight minutes to seize control of the game. Emma Pellicano scored 12 of her game-high 20 points during the run and Rachel Vigliotto chipped in with a 3-point basket and three free throws.

Allegheny went on to hold a 41-23 lead at halftime.

Nelson, who was limited to six minutes in the after picking up her second foul with 12:18 remaining in the first half, scored 11 points in the second half as Albion outscored the Gators, 32-25. Nelson finished with 13 points to earn Albion's team MVP award in the weekend classic.

Curry was Albion's high scorer with 14 points and Darian Payne corralled 10 rebounds.

Albion, now 3-1 on the season, is preparing to make its home debut Tuesday night. The Britons will play host to Dominican (Ill.) University for a 7 p.m. game on Nov. 25.
