DUBUQUE, Iowa -- Alyssa Krajco recorded her second straight double-double to lead the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team's 82-75 victory over the University of Dubuque on Sunday at Stoltz Sports Center.
Krajco registered a game-high 27 points and 17 rebounds for the Pioneers. She grabbed six of the Pioneers' 13 offensive rebounds and netted 12 of her 27 points from the free throw line. Rachel Cropp and Keeley Schulz each added 14 points, while Stacy Clark was two points and two boards away from a double-double.
The Pioneers didn't waste any time to get ahead, and opened the game on an 11-4 run. The Spartans battled back to tie the game up at 18-18 midway through the half. With neither team making a run in the final eight-minutes of the half, UD managed to take a 39-37 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Pioneers and the Spartans battled back and forth with nine lead changes and six ties. UW-Platteville rattled off 10 straight points in just over a minute and a half, to take a 71-64 lead with 3:13 left to play. UD couldn't come up with a big enough run of its own in the final three minutes as the Pioneers came out with the seven-point victory, 82-75.
UW-Platteville hosts Warburg on Friday at 5:30 p.m. for the Pioneers' home opener.
