ROME, Ga. -- Berry College scored a season high 88 points in an 88-76 win over Piedmont College in the second day of the SAA-USA South Challenge. Senior Megan Walsh had a game-best/career-high 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Berry, which won its third straight game, is now 3-1. Piedmont fell to 3-2.

Berry held Piedmont to just 34 percent from the field, while shooting 48 percent and 56 percent from the 3-point range. Walsh added four blocks and three steals for BC.

"Megan had a double-double and, more than that, she had a presence on both sides of the floor that I thought was going to be big for us tonight," said Coach Stephanie Dunn. "She really showed up and did what she needed to do."

Berry got off to a solid start, easily creating a double digit lead that they maintained for the rest of the game. They lead 45-28 at halftime.

Mel McLean and Chanlir Segarra both added 22 points for the Vikings as well. McLean added 12 rebounds and made four 3-points. Segarra dished a game-best seven assists.

"We're pretty good shooters when we're hitting—that comes a little more natural than defense so we really work on that in practice," Dunn said.

Mary Kate Rushton and Taylor Swoszowski both led the team with 12 points for the Lions (3-2).

When needed the most, the Vikings created big stops, especially down the stretch.

The Vikings led by as many as 25 points in the game.

Berry returns to action on Thursday for their first SAA action against Oglethorpe.

"All of the games leading up to it are great, but everything is in preparation for that [Thursday]," said Coach Dunn.
