Three Titans Recognized On All-Region Team

Brad Fischer earned Coach of the Year, while Katelyn Kuehl and Sarah Stecker were voted to the 2014 D3hoops.com All-Central Region Team.

Stecker, UW-Oshkosh's lone senior, gained a spot on the second team. Kuehl, a junior, was chosen for the third squad.

Fischer guided the Titans to a 26-4 record and the NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen. UW-Oshkosh completed its best season in 15 years while reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000.

In the NCAA Division III Championship, the Titans counted a 71-61 victory over No. 19 Saint Mary's University (Minn.) and a 72-66 win over No. 5 Washington University (Mo.).

UW-Oshkosh opened the season with 12 consecutive wins. The Titans then booked a 75-68 overtime victory over No. 23 UW-Stevens Point on Jan. 15. During the conference tournament, UW-Oshkosh won the championship with decisions of 68-44 over the Pointers and 75-69 against UW-Superior.

Stecker led the Titans with 11.9 points per game. She also averaged 6.0 rebounds while ranking second in the WIAC in shooting percentage at .513. Starting all 30 games, Stecker totaled 30 assists, 29 steals and a team-high 22 blocks.

Stecker tallied a career-best 26 points during the overtime victory over UW-Stevens Point. She also scored a game-high 17 in the NCAA opener against Saint Mary's. Stecker marked double-digit rebounds three times, including 12 in a victory over UW-Platteville on Dec. 4.

Kuehl topped UW-Oshkosh with 7.4 rebounds per game (third in the WIAC). She also averaged 10.2 points and made 78 percent of her free throws. Kuehl led the Titans with 40 steals while compiling 64 assists and seven blocks.

During UW-Oshkosh's run to the WIAC Tournament title, Kuehl totaled 35 points, 15 rebounds and six assists. She grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds at both UW-La Crosse on Dec. 11 and UW-Platteville on Feb. 5.

The Titans finished the year with the WIAC's top scoring defense at 55.1 points per game. UW-Oshkosh also posted the most assists (14.6) and fewest turnovers (14.4) in the league.
