Five Hope College women's basketball players scored in double figures as the Flying Dutch beat Adrian College 71-48 on Thursday in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament semifinals.

The top-seeded Flying Dutch advanced to host third-seeded Calvin College in Saturday's 7:30 p.m. championship game at DeVos Fieldhouse. Calvin won at second-seeded Olivet College 80-76 on Thursday.

Hope, ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division III coaches poll and No. 2 by d3hoops.com, is 26-0 on the season, while Calvin is 19-7.

"No. 1 thing in tournament time is win and advance," Hope coach Brian Morehouse said. "I think we played well. It was a solid team effort. At different times we had different people carrying us. I'm excited to be moving on to Saturday."

Against Adrian, junior guard Melissa LaReau of Bradley, Ill. (Bishop McNamara Catholic HS) scored a career-high 14 points off the bench to lead Hope.

Three Flying Dutch starters also reached double figures — senior guard Brittany Berry of Grand Rapids (Catholic Central HS) with 11 points, senior guard Megan Kelley of Rockford (Rockford HS) with 10 points and senior guard Anna Kaufmann of Davenport, Iowa (Davenport Central HS), with 10 points.

Freshman forward Mandy Traversa of Winfield, Ill. (Wheaton North HS), added 11 points off the bench.

Berry also chipped in a game-high four assists for Hope, which never trailed.

LaReau passed her previous high of 13 points, which came during a 96-54 win at Kalamazoo on Feb. 5.

"When Anna got in foul trouble, (LaReau) stepped in," Morehouse said. "Mo's had some of the best practices of anybody on our team the last 2 ½ weeks. I said I can't wait for that to translate into the game (against Adrian). You feel a little prophetic when the shots start dropping and Mo was being Mo."
