Fraser Leads Mount Saint Vincent to Upset of Rams

#4 Mount Saint Vincent - 76, #1 Farmingdale State - 59


Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior center Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored 28 points and had 21 rebounds to lead #4 Mount Saint Vincent to a 76-59 win over top-seeded Farmingdale State in the Skyline Semifinals this evening. The Dolphins advance to play #3 Sage in the Skyline Conference Championship game on Saturday with the winner earning the conference's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

Trailing 27-24 at the start of the second half, Mount Saint Vincent (18-8) connected on three straight 3-pointers to take a 33-27 lead with 15:59 left to play.

The Dolphins increased their lead to 11, 40-29, before sophomore guard Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) hit a 3 to cut the Farmingdale State (16-9) deficit to 40-32.

The Rams were able to close within six, 44-38, but Mount Saint Vincent answered with a 9-2 run to quickly extend the advantage back to 13 with 6:41 remaining. The Dolphins would extend the lead to as many as 22 en route to the 76-59 semifinal victory.

Farmingdale State was led by junior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) who scored a team-high 22 points, while senior forward Lushanta Savadel (Bellport, N.Y.) had eight points and a team-leading 12 rebounds.

Fraser scored her game-high 28 points on 12-of-19 shooting, while freshman guard Christina Barone (Staten Island, N.Y.) added 13 points, eight assists and seven boards.
