Rams End Regular Season with Win on Senior Day

Farmingdale State - 69, Mount Saint Vincent - 58


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team ended the regular season with a 69-58 victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent today in Farmingdale, N.Y. It was Senior Day for guards Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) and Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y.).

The Rams led 30-27 at the halftime break and pushed the lead to 10 points, 37-27, over the first five minutes of the second half. Farmingdale State led by as much as 19 and would stroll to the conference victory as they head into the Skyline Conference playoffs as the #1 seed.

Junior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) led the Rams with a game-high 22 points, including a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line. Young finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds, while sophomore guard Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) tallied 10 points and four assists.

For the Dolphins, freshman guard Brittany Lee (Newton, N.J.) and junior center Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) both posted double-doubles. Lee finished with 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Fraser totaled 11 points and 11 boards.

The top-seeded Rams will host the #4 seed Mount Saint Vincent again on Thursday night, February 27th. With a win, Farmingdale State would host the winner of #2 Purchase/#3 Sage in the Skyline Championship on Saturday, March 1st.
